The Extra High Concrete Garage From Lidget Compton

Welcome to the first of our new product focus posts. Today we will be looking at the Lidget Compton Extra High concrete garage range. This will be of particular interest to anyone needing a bit of extra headroom in their concrete garage. While this article is mainly concerned with garages, all the information here applies to the Lidget Compton range of concrete sheds and workshops as well.

There are any number of reasons why a standard height garage might not be practical. In this case you need an extra high concrete garage. Whether you plan to park a large vehicle or are simply planning to use your garage for extra storage, there are a variety of options available to ensure your new garage fits your needs perfectly.

So what is an extra high concrete garage?

Essentially as the name suggests an extra high concrete garage have higher eaves than a standard building. The standard eaves height on a Lidget Compton building is 6’6” (1.98m). Higher buildings are available with 7’6” (2.29m) eaves giving an extra foot of headroom!

An extra high concrete garage can be particularly useful if you have a large vehicle, for example a 4×4 or van. In fact, the size of your vehicle is an important consideration when looking at the purchase of a new sectional garage. The clearance on a standard height (6’6”) garage door is roughly 6’1” (1.85m). A typical 4×4 say a Land Rover Freelander is about 1.75m high, a fairly tight squeeze!  Add some roof bars to this and it wouldn’t fit. However, with an extra high garage and a 7’ or 7’6” door the clearance increases to over 6’8” or 2 metres.

This then throws up another question. What sort of door do you want in your new precast garage? Luckily, Lidget Compton not only supply the largest range of sectional buildings in the UK, we also supply the largest range of doors and accessories. So you can choose from traditional up and over doors, roller shutter doors, or sectional doors. Our sectional doors can even be fully insulated.

We will probably cover all the different door options in another post.

So what type of extra high garages are available?
